JSE-listed technology company Altron has announced the appointment of Collin Govender to the position of group chief information officer (CIO) with immediate effect.

In a statement, Altron says Govender, who has been Altron’s group executive for shared services, will provide functional guidance to the chief information officers in Altron Group’s 10 subsidiaries in his new role.

Altron group chief executive, Mteto Nyati, says: “This appointment comes at a critical time for Altron.

“We have embarked on a streamline of our information systems and are introducing integrated ERP [enterprise resource planning], CRM [customer relationship management], and HR [human resources] systems across the group.”

In March this year, Altron announced that it had migrated its HR information systems and payroll to Microsoft Azure.

Altron believes migrating its application data to the cloud will result in cost savings, improved efficiencies, data security and increased response time.

“Collin’s immediate priority will be on developing an information technology strategy and its governance structures with a special focus on group standards and information security,” Nyati says.

Govender joined Altron from T-Systems in 2017.

In its half-year results, Altron saw the group grow revenue from continuing operations by 8% to R8.5 billion, while EBITDA gained 19% to R803 million.

The company says it remains on track to achieve its five-year goal of doubling EBITDA by 2021.
