AvePoint to deliver Microsoft SharePoint expertise as Diamond Sponsor of SharePoint Saturday Johannesburg in SA
AvePoint will sponsor the event's Technical Track, providing attendees with best practices and a detailed technical overview of SharePoint in a real-world environment.
To continue its support of and offer guidance to the SharePoint community in South Africa, AvePoint, the leader in governance and infrastructure management solutions for Microsoft SharePoint, today announced that it is a Diamond Sponsor of SharePoint Saturday Johannesburg, taking place on 19 May 2012 at Business Connexion, in Midrand, South Africa.
SharePoint Saturday Johannesburg is an educational, informative, and lively event featuring sessions from renowned SharePoint experts and professionals, covering the most vital topics in the SharePoint community today. AvePoint is sponsor of the event's Technical Track, offering attendees a detailed technical overview of a subset of the technology covering architecture, performance, migration, deployment, and development.
“Sold out more than a month in advance of event, SharePoint Saturday Johannesburg is a testimony to the growth of SharePoint throughout South Africa and the passion SharePoint professionals have to connect, learn, and reap the benefits of the platform,” said Veronique Palmer, Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) and event organiser from Lets Collaborate. “AvePoint's expertise and support since the first SharePoint Saturday Johannesburg has helped the South African community expand its technical knowledge of SharePoint, and the company's participation in this event will help attendees better understand how to manage and govern their deployments intelligently.”
Roux Visser, Technical Solution Professional at AvePoint, will lead a session entitled: “Sizing Your Content Databases: Understanding the Limits”, as part of the Technical Track, at 2:55pm, SA Standard Time (SAST). The release of Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Service Pack 1 provided much larger ceilings for the size of content databases, with the supportable limit for most situations growing from 200 gigabytes to four terabytes. The session will be an overview of the assumptions, caveats, and implications organisations must be aware of before designing or redesigning information architecture. Visser will also share guidance on employing Remote BLOB Store (RBS) in light of this update.
“Since 2008, AvePoint has maintained a close bond with the South African SharePoint community, a tight-knit group always willing to share lessons learned with one another,” said Garth Luke, General Manager of AvePoint Australia and Vice-President of Sales. “We look forward to connecting with everyone at SharePoint Saturday Johannesburg and sharing insights AvePoint has gained by helping South African organisations deploy, manage, and govern SharePoint to truly harness the power of its technology while remaining completely aligned with business objectives.”
AvePoint will be present throughout SharePoint Saturday Johannesburg, and attendees can speak with the company's SharePoint experts and learn more about DocAve 6, the enterprise-class management platform for SharePoint governance.
