Specialist information security and risk management solutions distributor Credence Security has won the distribution rights to Infocyte's threat detection solutions.

Lauren Wain, GM at Credence, says the solution focuses on the post-compromise activity of persistent attackers and insider threats, helping organisations defend their networks and sensitive data. Infocyte's threat hunting technology was developed by former US Air Force cybersecurity officers.

According to Infocyte, the solutions were developed as the result of years spent tracking down adversaries within some of the largest and most targeted defence networks in the world. The experience gained while building the US Military's first malware hunting team gave the company operational expertise and perspective on how to tackle today's threats, it adds.

Wain says the number of breaches has risen dramatically in the last few years, resulting in multiple financial loses in the millions, and leading to the theft of intellectual property and the exposure of sensitive customer data. "Today's 'real-time' security processes are not effective at detecting that a breach has taken place, the network is compromised, and that information is being exfiltrated."

The Infocyte HUNT solution approaches threat detection from a different perspective. It presumes endpoints have already been compromised. The solution reduces risk and manages the breach detection gap by enabling a company's own IT and security professionals to discover malicious activity and persistent threats, active or dormant, that have slipped through the net of current defences and have established a foothold on the network, she adds.

When it comes to the network, the importance of security cannot be underestimated, Wain believes. "It needs continuous scrutiny to keep up with the pace of today's threat landscape, which is constantly changing."
