This solar company is adding over 100 new work-from-home jobs in SA

Johannesburg, 23 Oct 2020

The South African economy has taken a significant hit since the coronavirus outbreak. Thousands of jobs have been lost, and people are looking for new job opportunities wherever they can find them. Now one highly innovative company, WiSolar, is creating work-from-home opportunities in a thriving and essential industry.

WiSolar is one of South Africa’s leading suppliers and distributors of solar energy systems. It recently announced its intentions of adding over 100 new work-from-home jobs in South Africa over the course of the next year. These will be a diverse range of jobs that include sales, engineering, business development, programming and finance.

“WiSolar will increase its workforce to over 200 employers after it fills these new permanent full-time positions and seasonal part-time positions,” according to a statement released by the company on 21 September 2020. These positions are expected to give the South African economy a slight boost after a devastating year.

Work-from-home opportunities are critical to have during a pandemic. It gives workers a chance to remain in quarantine at their homes without exposing themselves to other potential carriers of the coronavirus. Meanwhile, they can earn a comfortable living with a pay rate that is sufficient for their survival. All they need to possess are the necessary qualifications to get hired as work-at-home employees.

WiSolar job candidates have to satisfy two basic requirements right off the bat. First, they need to have the proper authorisation to work in South Africa. If they’re a South African citizen, then it should not be a problem. Second, the candidates must have completed the Matric/Grade 12/NQF Level 4 qualification or higher. And if they’re pursuing an electrical engineering position, the candidates will be required to pass a trade test.

“As the economy reopens itself again after COVID, many companies must rehire employees and make sure they have a way to work safely,” said Anteonet van der Walt, the Chief Officer of WiSolar’s South African operations. It will not be difficult for WiSolar to find workers to fill its work-from-home positions because South Africa has many skilled workers who are looking to rejoin the workforce again.

Even though WiSolar is expanding its offices to more towns and cities across South Africa, it is going to be dependent on virtual workers to offer 24/7 assistance to  customers across South Africa. Some of this assistance might include sales questions, technical support and billing inquires.

What is truly exciting about these work-from-home opportunities is they are green jobs. Any South African that cares about environmental friendliness and moving away from fossil fuel dependency will be very interested in pursuing these jobs at WiSolar.

And as more South Africans become interested in upgrading their power supply to include solar energy systems, there is more focus than ever on WiSolar and its products.

“When clean power subsidies and green bonds are offered to people, it accelerates their interest in renewable energy significantly,” said Van der Walt. The South African government has expressed interest in moving the country toward a renewable energy future. Between the climate change crisis and the frequent need for load-shedding in South Africa, it gives the government a huge incentive to offer clean power subsidies and green bonds to those who will use solar energy.
