Uganda, Rwanda ink ICT pact

Rwanda and Uganda have signed an agreement that will see the two countries work together to boost ICT development, reports All Africa.com.

The two nations resolved to move beyond 'just signing' agreements to action, agreeing to embark on several joint programmes aimed at improving ICT infrastructure development, as well as agriculture and food security.

New Vision says relations between Rwanda and Uganda were strained after the two countries accused each other of harbouring dissidents fighting their respective governments.

After signing the agreement, Uganda President Yoweri Museveni and his Rwandan counterpart, Paul Kagame, addressed a press conference in which they promised to work together to further strengthen ties between the two countries, states The Daily Monitor.

Sources say both Rwandan and Ugandan leaders are more than committed to fortifying relations as a milestone in the pursuit of their economic, political and security interests, according to Sunday Vision.
