Headset Solutions (Plantronics in Africa), South Africa's leading headset distributor in mobile, contact centre and unified communications, has concluded a distribution partnership between Aastra with its Aastra IP Phones designed for use on the Microsoft Lync Unified Communications platform.

“A key strategy for Headset Solutions is to ensure that we offer a broad range of devices to the unified communications market. By including the Aastra IP phones for Microsoft Lync to our product portfolio, it enables us to offer a complete range of devices including headsets, USB phones and IP phones which are optimised for Microsoft Lync. The Aastra Microsoft Lync IP phone range is a high quality product aimed at a cost-conscience market,” says Duncan Barnes, Channel Manager for Headset Solutions (Plantronics in Africa).

Aastra's 6725ip and 6721ip IP phones for Microsoft Lync are the latest additions to the award-winning line of Aastra IP phones. Embedded in the hardware design is the Microsoft Lync 2010 Phone Edition, offering seamless integration into Microsoft Lync Server 2010. This combination provides for the fullest Lync feature set available, including simplified installation, management and configuration.

When connected to a Microsoft Lync 2010 equipped desktop, these terminals provide a synchronised integration with the desktop client enabling enhanced functionality, including click-to-dial and desktop control of calling features such as transfer, hold, call park and conferencing.

“Strong and dependable partnerships are the backbone of successful business. In this regard we are extremely confident in the business relationship we have entered into with Headset Solutions. The Aastra Lync phones coupled with Microsoft's UC platform and Plantronics' expertise are going to be an exciting mix indeed,” says Hercules Schoombee, Managing Director of Aastra Telecom South Africa.
