Pierre Bruwer has been appointed MD of Altron's Altech Netstar division. His appointment will take effect from 1 May.

Before his most recent position as VP of global new business development for Inseego, the parent company for Ctrack, Bruwer was the MD of Ctrack SA from 2013 to 2017.

His previous positions are in the telecommunications sector, including MD of Tema Telecoms.

Bruwer, who takes over from Harry Louw, will report directly to Altron CEO, Mteto Nyati, and will form part of the group executive committee.

In a statement, Nyati says, "I am delighted to welcome Pierre to the Altron Group to lead Netstar, a pioneer of stolen vehicle recovery technology in South Africa."

He adds: "Pierre joins us at a key time in our company when we are well ahead in repositioning Altron for growth and are beginning to implement our strategy for the African market. Netstar is a key driver of this new positioning, particularly in our strategic focus area of safety and security, and is one of the high performing businesses within the Altron Group.

"Netstar has evolved and introduced insurance telematics and fleet management solutions into the market, which have been a success. Through Netstar, we also acquired two companies in Australia which are competitive in the development of mobile data distribution software, fleet logistics and management. We are confident that Pierre, with his extensive experience in this sector, will accelerate our growth in the fleet management and telematics space."
