Sir John Alfred Sherry, founder and independent non-executive director of ICT company Jasco, is retiring as a board member after 40 years of service.

Sherry is immigrating permanently to Malta, but will remotely consult to Jasco Group, with a focus on expanding the business to the Middle East and North Africa.

He founded Jasco in 1976 in South Africa and served as board chairman until 1998. He was appointed non-executive director in 1998 and was honoured for his humanitarian deeds when he was knighted in Malta in 1998. He was granted the title of chevalier.

"I would like to thank Sir John for his guidance, contribution to the success of the business and his involvement in the company over the last 40 years," says Jasco CEO Pete da Silva.

"We wish him every success with his new role of growing the business and expanding its footprint and opportunities."

The JSE-listed company delivers smart technologies across multiple disciplines, such as telecommunications, information technology, energy and industry.
