Deltamune grows with Sage ERP Accpac and AccTech Systems

Johannesburg, 09 May 2012

For more than 16 years, Deltamune has been relying on Sage ERP Accpac as its ERP solution of choice, and Softline Accpac business partner of the year, AccTech Systems, has been supporting Deltamune every step of the way.

“We deployed the DOS version of Sage ERP Accpac at Deltamune in 1995, and it has been a privilege to see their business grow as it has over the past 16 years,” says Tertius Zitzke, Chief Executive Officer at AccTech Systems.

South African-based biotechnology company, Deltamune, focuses on veterinary and public health solutions, mainly in the production, animal and food safety sectors.

“Deltamune started out in the poultry industry and soon became the largest poultry veterinary test laboratory that is supported by a research and development team, in addition to a vaccine production unit in South Africa. With new possibilities in the animal health and food industries, the scope of the business now extends far beyond just poultry, and it has been very pleasing to have provided support to Deltamune on the same accounting and financial platform for the past 16 years,” says Zitzke.

After the recent ban on all exports of ostrich meat due to the Avian Influenza, Deltamune established a satellite laboratory in Oudtshoorn to support the ostrich industry in line with European Union requirements to monitor the epidemic.

“It's a common occurrence for businesses to deploy, use and abandon ERP solutions as their functionality become dated,” says Deltamune CEO Hannes Swart. “We have had tremendous growth over the last 16 years and it has been a pleasure to work with a product such as Sage ERP Accpac and AccTech, a solution provider that understands our business,” says Swart.

Elize Prinsloo, Operations Director at AccTech Systems, has been part of the Deltamune team for many years and she believes it is the contingency that AccTech can provide customers on not only technology, but also people, that has led to the longstanding business relationship between the two organisations.

“Technologically, Sage ERP Accpac has been an excellent fit for Deltamune,” says Prinsloo. “The Lot Tracking functionality in Sage ERP Accpac has allowed Deltamune to manage the financial transaction as a vaccine follows its development life cycle from research, to development, to production. Developments such as AccTech Integration.NET have also allowed us to provide full financial integration between Deltamune's laboratory testing systems and their Sage ERP Accpac financial system,” explains Prinsloo.

No other solution scales like Sage ERP Accpac, says Keith Fenner, Vice-President of Sales for Africa, Softline Accpac and Sage MMD Africa. “Sage ERP Accpac offers the freedom of choice, ease of integration, high performance and reliability that forward-thinking companies such as Deltamune rely on to increase profitability and seize the competitive advantage.”

Swart says Deltamune needs to focus on its core solutions and services, and the partnership with Sage ERP Accpac and AccTech Systems has allowed them to do just that. “The business intelligence provided through accurate management reports enables us to make the correct business decisions, which has been at the core of our business success,” concludes Swart.
