Bank eyes 1 000 self-service kiosks

The largest lender in India, State Bank of India, has opened yet another self service kiosk (SSK) in DLF cyber city at Gachibowli in Hyderabad, says Rupee Times.

These kiosks have been so designed as to be user-friendly. They have a computer terminal, which can be operated through his debit card. Sixteen transactions are allowed per day in these kiosks per card.

The new kiosk was inaugurated by CGM of the bank, Rakesh Sharma who said they will set up 1 000 SSK machines in its ATM centres across the country by March 2012.

According to IBN Live, Rakesh said customers will be relieved of waiting in queues for their turn to be served for routine transactions.”

“The SSKs provide transactions like funds transfer, passbook printing, cheque book request, balance inquiry, account summary, mobile top-up and mobile bill payment, mini statements, statement of account, mobile banking registration, Internet banking registration, stop cheque payment, SMS alert registration, National Electronic Fund Transfer, bill payment, mobile number and e-mail address update and opening of term deposits.

“Additional functionalities like railway ticket booking and SBI life premium payment would be added,” Rakesh said.

The newly inaugurated Gachibowli SSK is the fourth SSK in Hyderabad after Vanasthalipuram, Vidyanagar, Ramanthpur and Gandhinagar.
