The local chapter of the World Entrepreneurship Awards, sponsored by Ernst & Young and First National Bank, is calling for nominations for best entrepreneur and best emerging entrepreneur for 2009.

Past winners include the late Bill Lynch from Imperial, Koos Bekker from Naspers and Ndaba Ntsele from Pamodzi.

Last year's winner, James Blakemore from Zest Electric Group, will represent SA in Monte Carlo at the Global Awards Ceremony to be held in May.

Zanele Xaba, country leader of the World Entrepreneur Awards Programme at Ernst & Young, says: "The World Entrepreneur Awards offer a platform for entrepreneurs to interact with business leaders in order to strengthen their business and personal skills.

“The media coverage received by finalists and winners highlights the valuable contribution these entrepreneurs have made to the South African economy, both socially and economically."

Nominations are now open and close on 31 March. To view the selection criteria and to apply, click here.
