IoT.nxt launches smart data centre platform at Dell Tech World

Johannesburg, 07 May 2019

Innovator in Internet of things (IOT) technology, IoT.nxt launched its smart data centre platform at Dell Technologies World, in Las Vegas, last week and, based on how it was received at the event, expects wide adoption of the platform. It leverages energy management, data centre automation and active storage to achieve a digitalised, smart ecosystem.

"This improves energy asset performance, implements a self-healing system design and compresses data for active usage. Smart monitoring and collection of actionable data from the edge leverages the IoT.nxt Raptor edge device to command systems. This ensures that previously unpredictable instances are avoided and achieves self-rectification," says Jason Bradlee, COO Americas at IoT.nxt.

"The three primary components of our smart data centre solution are facility level energy management, data centre infrastructure automation and enhanced active storage. This can achieve 20% to 35% energy cost reduction, between 20% and 25% efficiency improvement in data centre automation and 25% to 40% cost reduction of active storage," Bradlee says.

This is IoT.nxt's first participation at Dell Technologies World, following the launch of its USA operations in October last year, and is its second collaboration with Dell, after the Raptor for Dell IoT in a box solution launched in Johannesburg, South Africa in March 2018. RaptorforDell

The smart data centre solution is being scheduled for roll-out globally in Dell Solution Centres. The targeted centres are located in the USA, Ireland, Dubai and Singapore. These deployments anticipated to begin in summer 2019 provide an opportunity for Dell to realise the savings afforded by the solution, while also serving as a live demo for its sales staff and client base.

"IoT.nxt and Dell Technologies are confident that this is what the data centre of the future will look like. The solution allows companies to have rule-based filtering, which removes false positive alerts with focus and timely remediation of issues. It is self-learning with AI analytics, which allows event correlation of infrastructure events, with various business events and accurate prediction of future failures as well as root cause analysis," Bradlee added.

IoT.nxt's unique technology stack bridges the gap between all protocols in the industrial ecosystem, creating a single integration/translation point. Its patented Raptor gateway allows organisations to retrofit all existing legacy systems with no rip and replace. A powerful data abstraction model further translates anything and everything from the edge, supporting a true subscription-based big data model. IoT.nxt is the enterprise solution category winner and overall winner of the MTN Business IoT Award 2017 in South Africa. IoT.nxt opened its European office in The Hague, The Netherlands in 2017 and set up US operations in October 2018.
