Okta Hooks enables developers to create ‘infinite’ integrations

Okta has unveiled Okta Hooks, a functionality of its Identity Cloud that allows developers to create unlimited number custom integrations for the Okta Integration Network.

According to the Nasdaq-listed company, which specialises in cloud-based identity management software, the role identity plays in the way developers create tailored, omni-channel customer experiences has grown significantly.

However, securing and customising a central identity service within the context of a distributed, microservices architecture or a best-of-breed IT environment creates major challenges for both developers and the tech department.

Developers must be able to modify identity policy or workflow, and integrate to any number of MarTech, CRM, ERP, HR or other business systems and processes, without having to bear the burden of security and extra resources needed when building custom identity and access management systems.

With Okta Hooks, developers can leverage external context to modify workflows within the Okta platform, while still maintaining high degrees of control, visibility, and security.

In addition, they can extend Okta workflows with custom code or integrate third-party services, all of which are triggered by key events within the Okta Identity Cloud, including registration, authentication and authorisation.

According to Okta, this results in a far more flexible, extensible identity management experience, and allows enterprises to deliver customised, seamless and secure user experiences.
