Global information security (infosec) influencers will deliver keynotes at the ITWeb Security Summit 2014, the definitive South African event for infosec professionals.

Among them is Jacob Appelbaum, independent computer security researcher, hacker and core member of the Tor project. Appelbaum will deliver a presentation on "Surveillance and privacy - a global overview".

Also presenting an international keynote is Christopher Soghoian, principal technologist and senior policy analyst with the Speech, Privacy and Technology Project at the American Civil Liberties Union. Soghoian will share his overview of the attacker landscape, including the legal and social impact of privacy intrusions.

An in-depth insight into the failures of the infosec community will be presented by Charlie Miller, security engineer at Twitter and four-time winner of the CanSecWest Pwn2Own competition. Haroon Meer, founder of Thinkst, an applied research company with a deep focus on information security, will also deliver a keynote at this high-level event.

Delegates at the summit will be able to attend the much-anticipated car hacking demonstration by Miller and Chris Valasek, security intelligence director at IOActive.

A call for papers has been issued for the event, inviting infosec experts, industry analysts and practitioners to share their experience and knowledge. They should present strong case studies and insights into the infosec landscape, tools, strategies, and developing trends and threats. The closing date for submissions is Friday, 6 December.
