Introduction to IBM MQ Appliance from CQSA: Part 2

Johannesburg, 29 Jan 2019

So, what is theIBM MQ Appliance?

It's an appliance that enables applications, systems and services to exchange information securely, reliably and rapidly. The MQ Appliance is a hardware platform purpose-built for messaging.

Take the new IBM MQ Appliance Model 2002. It's got 4 SSDs of 3.2 Terabytes storage each, powered by 30 processor cores withIntel Skylake. Most host platforms give you a maximum throughput of around 10 gigabits per second, while the MQ Appliance gives you over 13 times that.

Its queue managers behave the same as anyqueue managerrunning as software on other servers. They can participate in clusters and exchange messages with other queue managers or MQ clients.

It's robust enough to give you both the speed and reliability for messaging applications and data delivery, while reducing the need for OS licensing and maintenance, rack space, power consumption and cooling apparatus.

The IBM MQ Appliance can help you reduce your MQ PVU count by 80%-90%, and in some cases even up to 100%. There's also support for high availability with automated failover, without the need for any other hardware or software.Remote Automated DRis also natively supported.

You can integrate your existing assets to build flexible and re-usable architectures, such as in SOA environments. This is perfectly suited to banks, financial platforms or asset managers requiring state-of-the-art security features and reliable audit trails.

Put simply, the IBM MQ Appliance replaces complexity with simplicity.
