COBIT enters its rightful place

Workshop to illustrate the bottom line business benefits of IT governance.

Johannesburg, 25 Apr 2013

Gary Hardy, Deloitte IT Governance Centre of Excellence lead and one of the originators of the COBIT initiative, says South African enterprises are now seeing the business benefits of IT governance, rather than viewing it as a 'grudge initiative' driven by IT. "IT is integral to every facet of business, and enterprises are now approaching IT governance as a business imperative," he says.

Hardy says there is a growing awareness that IT governance facilitates improvement, helps monitor and measure ROI and generally drives business value, enabling innovation, agility and cost saving.

Hardy will lead an in-depth workshop on COBIT 5 for Information Security at the ITWeb Security Summit, in Sandton, on 9 May, when IT professionals will be guided through the COBIT 5 process model, objectives and business benefits. Delegates will learn how to align and prioritise a process improvement strategy based on enterprise objectives and inherent risks, as well as gaining insights into the necessary action steps to take.

Delegates will benefit from the workshop, which will focus on:

* Governance and management challenges of information security
* Governance concepts
* The COBIT5 process model
* The importance of organisational change
