In a globally competitive marketplace, the protection of confidential company data must receive the highest priority. While companies may achieve a high degree of security within daily business routines, they often let their guards down when commissioning work on IT infrastructure such as SAP and other ERP systems or databases. Service providers and programmers generally have unhindered access to all data stored on these systems, such as customer-specific prices, margins or HR data, etc. This security risk can now be eliminated through the use of a proprietary Data Provisioning and Masking (DPM) solution developed by SNP AG, the international software provider based in Heidelberg, Germany.
The DPM solution is an integral component of SNP Transformation Backbone v12.4 - the latest version of SNP's standard software for transformation projects. It masks company data during test runs, quality-management work or training, thus ensuring that meaningful test runs using real databases can be achieved while at the same time anonymising sensitive data such that it cannot be associated with any particular transaction.
The highly automated nature of the software platform allows for an up to 90% reduction in manual programming, which means far fewer people gain access to the system.
"The new DPM software solution guarantees optimal data protection even during the extensive test runs required in every transformation project," says Dr Andreas Schneider-Neureither, CEO of SNP AG. Contributing significantly to the success of the SNP Transformation Backbone software platform is the experience the company has gained in the 1 500 transformation projects it has conducted to date.
