The Department of Home Affairs' main Web site has been offline since 10 April.

There is still no indication when the Department of Home Affairs' (DHA's) main Web site will be back online.

This marks the second week the DHA's main site has been inaccessible, following "emergency maintenance" that began on 10 April.

Despite the main Web site being offline, the department's eHomeAffairs portal appears unaffected by the downtime.

When users attempt to reach the main site, the landing page features a disclaimer, in which the department states: "Users acknowledge that the DHA Web site may be unavailable due to updates or other causes beyond the reasonable control of DHA, including, but not limited to virus infection, unauthorised access (hacking), power failure or other natural causes."

Citizens use the DHA's site to find information on upcoming events, the latest news concerning the department, policy documents, current leader profiles, office hours of front offices across the country, and available services, to name a few.

In March, the department announced the eHomeAffairs portal, which allows online applications for smart ID cards and passports, will be off the grid for a period of a weekend as a result of system maintenance.
