Deloitte readies Risk Conference 2019

The state of governance and ethical leadership

Johannesburg, 17 Sep 2019

We are living in turbulent times. Developed markets are struggling to find a robust growth model, whilst in Africa growth is subdued. The South African economy is mired in instability, a high rate of unemployment and a lack of growth. Risk is dominating every aspect of business and has become increasingly critical in informing decision-making.

The influx of daily reports on corporate failures, on the other hand, points to a lack of ethical leadership both locally and globally. With an unrelenting high rate of unemployment, cost of doing business, stringent regulations imposed by the government and requirement to adapt to global trends, are leaders succumbing to the pressures of doing business?

The organisation’s leadership is the driver in creating and maintaining an ethical business culture. The role of ethical leadership, has therefore, become critical.

Deloitte is proud to host the annual Deloitte Risk Conference. This gathering will bring together government, business, corporate citizens and thought leaders in a dialogue to unpack the rise in unethical leadership and the risks that emerge as we work together towards reigniting ethical leadership in Africa.
