Japan extends cultural AV grant to Pakistan

The Japanese government has extended cultural grant assistance of $0.6 million to Pakistan to improve audiovisual equipment of the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (NIFTH), Lok Virsa, Daily Times writes.

In 1993, Japan extended yen41 million in cultural aid to the Lok Virsa to set up audiovisual equipment.

According to Tribune, the grant will be used for creating a sense of awareness and understanding of Pakistani heritage among the locals as well as internationally through video documentation.

It will enhance audio/video archives of Pakistan for students, scholars, researchers and others related to this field.

Daily Times noted that the new equipment is the latest digital technology of high-definition, which will be useful for the preservation of folk and traditional heritage of Pakistan.
