Citrix yesterday appointed Westcon SA as a value-added distributor in SA.

In a statement, Citrix says the appointment was made as demand for mobile work styles and cloud services technologies in the South African market continues to grow rapidly.

It notes that Westcon SA will distribute all Citrix solutions, including network optimisation technologies, to South African resellers to ensure organisations have the correct infrastructure in place to support the surge in demand for flexible working solutions.

"We have seen tremendous growth in the past 12 months, particularly in the areas of desktop virtualisation and mobility," says Simon McCullough, channel manager at Citrix SA.

"Westcon's appointment is an important step to further allow resellers to capitalise on this growth from both a pre-sales and sales process; its expertise in network infrastructure and optimisation, unified communications, data centre and security solutions will be particularly beneficial to both Citrix and the South African channel - ultimately allowing Citrix to offer a more complete range of services and solutions as a result of this agreement," he adds.

Stanley Louw, head of Westcon Works, says Westcon is focused on creating programs and support that accelerate the business of its partners, supporting the South African reseller base with senior-level, experienced management teams located across SA.

"Westcon is uniquely qualified to deliver and integrate complex technologies. This appointment is testament to Westcon's strong skills and experience in South Africa and we welcome the addition of the Citrix solution set to the Westcon business," says Louw.

As a value-added distributor, Westcon will distribute the full range of Citrix products and solutions, including Citrix NetScaler and Citrix NetScaler Branch Repeater. According to Citrix, these are integral to ensure optimal load balancing and network optimisation as organisations offer increasingly mobile working solutions to workers.

It also explains that Citrix value-added distributors perform important services on behalf of Citrix, including managing reseller relationships, processing reseller orders for Citrix products, and providing technical support to resellers.
