TV gets more Engage-ing

Chyron has introduced its new Engage platform designed for integrating second screen, social media and social TV data into live TV broadcasts, Market Watch reports.

Making these popular technologies available through existing Chyron graphics system interfaces, Engage eliminates the need for custom integration and gives broadcasters a low-cost, low-risk way to incorporate a range of engaging and dynamic new elements into their live news and sports programming.

Broadcasting & Cable quotes Michael Wellesley-Wesley, president and CEO at Chyron, as saying: "Our customers are leaders in their markets and are, by nature, innovators and early adopters of leading-edge tools. Engage offers easy access to tools from top companies working in second screen environments. By building these technologies into the TV production workflow, Engage gives artists and producers the means to take content such as Twitter feeds, polls, text messages and other viewer-generated data to air within their live broadcasts."

According to Lost Remote, to bring it all together, Chyron has partnered with ConnecTV for its companion app polling technology, Never.no for its social TV platform, Mass Relevance for its real-time curation and Vibes for its text, Twitter and Web voting technology.

Earlier this month, Never-no teamed up with TV graphics firm Vizrt to incorporate social media and audience participation into on-air graphics. It's safe to predict these partnership deals will spur more social media integration in live newscasts and sporting events, especially at the local market level.
