On 6 June 2019, the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the ACFE South Africa (SA) and ISACA South Africa (SA) was renewed. The ACFE SA and ISACA SA have been MOU partners since 2014, and the reason for renewing the MOU is to ensure the respective partners work closely together in the fight against fraud and corruption in southern Africa.

Arlene-Lynn Volmink was elected as President of ISACA SA for the 2018-2020 term from former presidents, Kenneth Chikwanha and, subsequently, Tichaona Zororo. Jaco de Jager, CEO of the ACFE SA, and Arlene-Lynn Volmink, President of ISACA SA, described this as a new opportunity to ensure a coherent global approach to combating business fraud and corruption as the most effective tool for bringing down levels of corporate fraud and corruption and concretising a solid culture of good corporate governance in business generally.

ACFE SA’s mission: The mission of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners is to reduce the incidence of fraud and white-collar crime and to assist the members in fraud detection and deterrence. ISACA’S purpose is to help you realise the positive potential of technology and its promise is to inspire confidence that enables innovation through technology. The primary purpose of the chapter is to promote the education of individuals for the improvement and development of their capabilities relating to the auditing of, management consulting in, or direct management of the fields of IT governance, IS audit, cyber security, control and assurance.

Subsequent to the renewal of the MOU, the ACFE SA and ISACA SA are readily taking every opportunity thrown their way, and recently held a joint event themed: “Re-inventing your digital toolbox”. The ACFE SA and ISACA SA look forward to a long working relationship and believe that, through collaboration, they can make an impact and leave a footprint in South Africa and Africa, where there is yearning for a change.
