SAS, Avnet open BI centre

Business intelligence (BI) provider SAS Malaysia and US-based technology firm Avnet Technology Solutions have opened a SAS Solution Centre in Kuala Lumpur as part of an expansion plan, says Computer World.

SAS plans to extend market reach through the centre, located at SAS Malaysia's office in Plaza Sentral, Kuala Lumpur, through providing support to its channels and alliances program, according to Jonathan Lee, head of alliances and channels of SAS Malaysia.

Lee said that there is an increasing demand for analytics in organisations across local industries. The centre will allow channel partners to highlight BI solutions and proofs of concepts to clients and prospects.

Noetix receives US patent

Noetix announced that its Metabuilder technology has been awarded a US patent, reports TCM Net.

This patent is for the method for generating metadata through an automatic scan of an enterprise application.

Noetix Metabuilder scans various applications - including Siebel CRM, PeopleSoft Enterprise applications and Oracle E-Business Suite - and generates metadata by identifying its unique configuration.

Department of Medicine uses BI

Information Builders has announced that The University of Virginia Department of Medicine recently chose the WebFOCUS BI platform to help streamline clinical and financial reporting across ten divisions, states Earth Times.

The Department of Medicine had two accounting systems: one for the Health Services Foundation, the other for the School of Medicine.

These disparate systems were making it difficult for accounting pros to create consolidated financial reports and deliver information to a diverse user base, which includes physicians, clinical administrators, and department heads with varying skill levels.
