IPTV monitoring advances in Austria

Bridge Technologies announced that TV-Connect Broadcast Systems has been appointed to distribute and support Bridge Technologies' VideoBridge IPTV monitoring system in Austria, says Electric Light & Power.

The Vienna-based TV-Connect will provide support, sales and consultancy to IPTV providers seeking an advanced solution for end-to-end fault tracking and performance analysis in the IPTV delivery chain.

The VideoBridge system is said to be the first true headend-to-set-top-box monitoring solution available and includes a full range of IP probes for analysis at any point in the chain for continuous monitoring of service quality in the subscriber's premises.

Mobile TV ready in Japan

Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs & Communications (MIC) says it recognises Qualcomm's MediaFLO technology as one of two official technologies for Japan's nationwide mobile multimedia broadcasting services, reports Nikkei Electronics Asia.

This enables MediaFLO-enabled mobile TV services to be deployed in Japan when the spectrum becomes available in 2011.

According to Neville Meijers, senior vice-president and GM of FLO International, the MediaFLO platform offers a rich user experience, high channel capacity and an open services layer to support a wide range of mobile broadcast services.

Single-chip hybrid TV receiver

Fresco Microchip's FM 1151 is described as the first single-chip global receiver for the hybrid TV market, reports EE Times.

The solution supports universal analogue audio and video demodulation as well as digital intermediate frequency processing for global terrestrial and cable television markets.

Panasonic Electronic Devices has selected the FM1151 for terrestrial and cable broadcasts across Europe, Asia and Latin America.

According to Melissa Chee, Fresco's director of marketing, the FM1151 enables TV manufacturers to deal with fewer suppliers, since it integrates SAW filter functionality, eliminating the need for external components.
