Axiz announces ASUS inaugural motherboard for Republic of Gamers series

Crosshair motherboard incorporates easy system-tweaking features for building powerful gaming machines

Johannesburg, 11 Aug 2006

Leading IT infrastructure distributor, Axiz, has announced the immediate availability of an all-new product series, Republic of Gamers (ROG) from ASUS, the worldwide leader of motherboards.

According to Kobus de Beer, ASUS product manager at Axiz, all ROG products are made to provide the best performing solutions for serious gamers and overclockers. "The inaugural solution of ROG is the Crosshair motherboard, which boasts convenient features for system-tweaking, providing players and overclockers with a powerful solution when building their power gaming systems."

Easy system-tweaking with style - LCD Poster

"LCD Poster is an excellent feature for system tuning and upgrades," says De Beer. Most hardcore users and engineers install a debug card, which displays a two-digit code that enables them to recognise which part of the system is responsible for hanging the system during boot-up.

LCD Poster, located at the back I/O, displays the names of each boot-process instead of using codes. When the system hangs due to a faulty connection or configuration, the LCD Poster will freeze on the displayed process name that caused the hang up, allowing users to know exactly what needs to be fixed. Performance and reliability - 8-Phase EL Cap-less Power designs

This innovative design implemented by the Crosshair embodies two ROG commitments: ultimate overclockability and reliability.

8-Phase EL Cap-less Power design has chip-style polymer aluminium electrolyte capacitors, which are used in server level systems, for better spacing and thermal environment. In addition, the new design eliminates capacitor damages once and for all.

"The so called 8-phase design further delivers steadier power supply for the CPU by generating less heat than conventional power solutions and providing a cool computing environment for stable performance and higher overclocking margin," explains De Beer. "It reduces input ripple current and output ripple voltage, preventing the CPU and power modules from the risk of high power stress."

Connect in the dark - EL I/O

Today`s gamers demand more than good performance. They demand features that are tailor-made for their usage experience. The Crosshair comes with the EL I/O, an impressive feature that simplifies connecting devices by lighting up the back I/O panel for convenient connection in dark environments such as LAN parties. No more jamming devices into the wrong connectors!

Sound with clarity - SupremeFX and Array Mic

The SupremeFX audio card is designed to provide the best gaming audio experience. With 24-bit/192kHz full sampling in all surround channels, whether you`re hearing game actions through headphones or 7.1 surround speakers, all sound effects will be loud and clear.

The audio card is supplemented with the bundled sophisticated Array Microphone. "While competing in game tournaments, the microphone receives only the sound coming from the reception cone and ignores the sound coming from other directions, eliminating a large number of interferences including neighbouring speakers and reverberations," says De Beer. "It also features `Echo Cancellation Technology`, which eliminates the annoying echo during audio and voice applications."

Rich software bundle

The Crosshair bundles 3DMark 06 Advanced Edition, the latest version in the popular 3DMark series. It is the most popular and authoritative 3D benchmark application used by professionals around the world. The 3DMark06 includes advanced SM2.0 and HDR/SM3.0 shader graphics tests, including single, multiple core and multiple processor CPU tests as part of the 3DMark score! The accurate performance and image quality diagnostic tool provides all the information needed to make all other competitors look bad.
