Profitable quarter for MicroStrategy

Johannesburg, 22 Nov 2002

MicroStrategy, the business intelligence application specialist represented in SA by Knowledge Integration Dynamics (KID), has achieved profitability for the third quarter of its financial year.

The company says this is its fourth consecutive quarter of pro forma profitability.

Third-quarter revenues were $33.4 million compared with $36.8 million in the preceding quarter and $41.4 million in the third quarter of last year.

Net attributable income for the third quarter was $37.4 million, or $0.18 per share on a diluted basis.

This compares with net attributable income of $36.1 million, or $3.71 per share on a diluted basis for the year-earlier period.

"Sustaining profitability is in line with MicroStrategy`s commitment to the market, showing again that the company has turned the corner," says Charl Barnard, MicroStrategy GM at KID.

"MicroStrategy has made remarkable progress strengthening itself financially during the last two years. The company is confident about its future and expanding its sales force.

"It is building on its technological leadership by enhancing its award-winning business intelligence platform with the latest release of MicroStrategy 7i, which has new features for financial reporting."

KID was formed in 1999 to address a need in the South African corporate market for high-performance business intelligence solutions.
