White paper: Increasing threat surface demands greater IT visibility

Johannesburg, 23 Jul 2020

We’ll never be perfect. We have to accept being good enough and maintaining vigilance on cyber security, while considering not just how to mitigate the risk, but also how to recover from an attack – because things will always get through.

It’s a strong but realistic approach from a pioneer and leading authority on cyber security. Robert Hannigan is former director of GCHQ, the UK’s largest intelligence and security agency. He was responsible for the country’s first cyber security strategy in 2009, and published the first National Risk Register in 2008 to make the UK “the safest place to live and do business online”. He set up the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre as part of GCHQ and launched the active cyber defence programme in 2016.

He recently spoke with SailPoint’s Steve Mowll as part of a webinar on cyber security and industry 4.0, discussing the formidable challenges companies face today, and how the adoption of new technologies is impacting different sectors in different ways.
