Healthbridge, a leading health technology solutions company, has come on board as a partner in the inaugural Alliance of South African Independent Practitioners' Associations (ASAIPA) National Medical Awards 2018.

The awards, taking place on 10 November 2018, at the Midrand Conference Centre, will recognise and honour independent private medical professionals for their work and dedication to making a difference in South African healthcare. Each award recipient would have been nominated by their peers as the national 'Top Practitioner' in their respective categories and medical fields.

As a pioneer of digital practice management solutions in the country, Healthbridge is sponsoring the awards category of 'Recognition for embracing digital solutions to achieve better patient and business outcomes'. Two nominees will be chosen as winners in this category by meeting the criteria as pioneering individuals who can demonstrate better patient experiences through the use of digital applications. Nominees must also be family practitioners who are utilising cloud-based solutions for clinical and/or practice management for the majority of their practice processes.

"We are pleased to join with ASAIPA as an inaugural partner to help make the National Medical Awards 2018 a reality," said Luis Da Silva, executive managing director at Healthbridge.

"Healthbridge is dedicated to helping medical professionals transform their practices through the use of technology. We are excited to have the opportunity to recognise South Africa's influential and outstanding independent private health practitioners who are doing just that," continued Da Silva.

Healthbridge is sponsoring one of five categories of the National Medical Awards 2018.

Other categories include:

* Practitioners contributing to independent private practice;
* Organisations, groups or individuals enhancing the medical profession's standing in the community;
* Young practitioners recognition; and
* Achievement by colleagues in non-medical fields.

Each category will honour two peer-nominated professionals. The awards will be attended by representatives from 13 IPAs across the country, medical professionals, ASAIPA, SASP, BASA, SAAA, and other sponsors, including Sanlam, Standard Bank, Cipla and Medici.

"It is with great delight that we are introducing the ASAIPA National Medical Awards 2018, the first of its kind that aims to recognise and honour independent South African medical professionals. We believe that these awards will, without a doubt, become the industry's most sought-after accolade," said Dr Unben Pillay, CEO of ASAIPA.

"We are not in the business of putting individuals and practices up for scrutiny for what they are lacking, but rather for what they offer. This grants every individual the opportunity to be awarded as a 'Top Professional' in their respective areas of expertise," concluded Pillay.
