In the quest for excellence, businesses have to understand conflict and how best to manage this HR issue. Difference in opinion, not adequately managed, and exacerbated by various personal and financial challenges, will have a negative impact on operations.
This was the key message communicated to customers and partners attending a champagne breakfast hosted by HR and human capital management (HCM) specialist CRS Technologies.
The event was specially arranged to celebrate the company's 30-year success in the HR and HCM technology space.
Guests were provided with insight into the great strides CRS Technologies has made in solidifying its position within the market, with the introduction of solutions that make a lasting, practical difference to business.
As an example, the critical facet of any operation - risks and rewards - was discussed. This is one of several key areas within the field of HR and HCM in which CRS Technologies excelled.
Guest speaker Derek Pead outlined the causes of conflict in the workplace and spoke of five main reasons: Appreciation (thoughts, feelings, actions are devalued); affiliation (treated as adversary and kept at a distance); autonomy (freedom to make decisions is impinged upon); status (relative standing is treated as inferior to that of others); and role (current role and its activities are not personally fulfilling).
For the sake of the business, it is important to handle conflict responsibly and decisively.
According to Pead, it is important to recognise that people are different and there is a genuine need to listen.
Not adhering to these important considerations will significantly limit the capacity to effectively manage conflict.
"We are very proud to have reached this milestone in the company's journey... and we continue to add value to a market that is evolving and is driven by technology and data. This was a valuable opportunity to engage our customers and partners on an important aspect of HR management. Since we are leaders in the field, we are responsible for facilitating expert advice," said Ian McAlister, General Manager of CRS Technologies.
