Arthur Madonsela is currently the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the CSIR; a position he has held for well over twelve years now. In this role, he has overall responsibility and ownership for leading and managing the IT function which services nearly 2,500 staff made up of scientists, engineers, and corporate staff. His nearly thirty-year (30) career in IT is girded by a rare balance of an academic background in business and technology (having studied at both Wits University and the then Natal University), with a broad IT exposure and management experience at senior management/executive level. He has worked locally and abroad for such world-renown and -respected companies as Accenture, Dimension Data, EDS, Gateway Communications, Innovation Group, etc in various capacities ranging from being IT Manager, Sales/Account Executive, Commercial Director, Chief Technology Officer, etc; servicing both public and private sector clients in a diversity of industries from pure IT, Telecoms, Retail, Energy, etc.
