Kris has 20 years’ experience as a consultant and advisor on IT risk management, IT governance and cybersecurity. As Partner and Lead for PwC Cyber Africa, Managing Director at SLVA Information Security, and a Risk Advisory and Security Competency Partner at Deloitte, Kris has had the opportunity to direct numerous cybersecurity transformation, strategy and operations programmes. Kris has significant experience, both local and global, in information security architecture, information security audit, advisory and consulting, and is a subject matter expert in IT and cybersecurity management, cyber analytics, vulnerability management, access governance, IT and security governance, data privacy, as well as systems risk management and ICT compliance management.

In his professional capacity, working as a volunteer for the IT Governance Institute (ITGI), Kris has contributed to the development of the COBIT 4.1 Implementation guide, COBIT Control Practices, VALIT 2.0 as well as the VALIT Assurance guide. Kris also serves either as a CISO, or as an advisor to the CISO ,at a number of large and medium-sized retail and financial services institutions, frequently reporting to technology board sub-committees and mentoring Security Managers to ensure that his clients’ cyber resilience strategies are executed effectively and efficiently. Kris has also presented to numerous boards, board sub-committees and non-executive and financial director forums on the topics of cybersecurity and governance. Kris has a MSc from the University of KZN, Pietermaritzburg and has completed the Executive Development Programme at GIBS.
