Brightwave continues to advance its mission for digital transformation in underserviced and rural communities in South Africa. In a first of its kind, Brightwave in partnership with the Universal Service and Access Agency of South Africa (USAASA) has successfully deployed its first phase of a 1009 site WiFi deployment in OR Tambo District.
The first phase of the deployment covers 550 educational institutions as well as 69 health facilities in King Sabata Dalindyebo (KSD) and Mthlontlo Municipalities in OR Tambo District. The second Phase of 400 Hot spots will cover municipal buildings, community centres, traditional leaders' sites, and other government facilities as part of an extensive deployment of public WiFi in rural communities.
Brightwave continues the tradition of breaking into new grounds having successfully deployed and commercialised the single largest concentration of WiFi hotspots in the largest township (Soweto) in South Africa (close to 500 Hotspots enabling access to over 2 million inhabitants of Soweto Township).
