Rise of encryption, fall of all-flash

End-to-end, application level encryption fundamentally defeats data reduction, says Chip Elmblad, enterprise architect at INFINIDAT.

Chip Elmblad, an Enterprise Architect at INFINIDAT, says companies that have invested in an all-flash data centre could face big problems.

Elmblad goes on to explain how end-to-end (application level) encryption fundamentally defeats data reduction. He says this could increase a business's TCO by between five and 10 times.

Implementing application level data encryption is both an emerging critical requirement to combat security threats, while at the same time a huge problem in the face of the realities of modern data storage.
