South African innovator in IOT technology, IoT.nxt, secured a collaboration with Nasdaq listed ADTRAN, a leading provider of next-generation open networking and subscriber experience solutions. This will help carriers and enterprises around the world to design new services and solutions by bringing together various streams of IOT device data into a single, easy-to-use platform.

ADTRAN's senior vice-president of sales, John Neville, says this exciting collaboration allows the companies to create cloud-based innovations that will bring a host of new revenue opportunities and operational savings to customers around the world. "We can't wait to see where this takes our customers," Neville added.

Nico Steyn, CEO of IoT.nxt, says this is a further step in the roll-out of the company's operations worldwide, especially in the US, and will also help IoT.nxt drive the global implementation of its IOT technology and solutions. "We view this as validation of our differentiation and innovation as a technology agnostic IOT offering that can utilise legacy equipment," Steyn added.

"Through the ADTRAN collaboration, we can create the synergy needed to capture and commercialise the growing volume of IOT data generated in any number of vertical markets across diverse systems and processes," Steyn says.

Neville notes ADTRAN will now be able to provide enterprise and carrier customers with smart, streamlined management of IOT data that will help drive better, more informed business decisions. "Carriers will also be able to better manage their physical and virtualised networks, as well as offer enhanced home and business services on one platform that manages all devices for a subscriber."

IoT.nxt has secured several partnerships and set up collaborations with companies operating in diverse industries in SA and Europe to drive the company's expansion. US operations are gaining traction after the first project: an energy management installation with partner Minimise USA in Tampa, Florida. Projects in Europe and the UK include facilities management, energy management, ports, and the waste management industry for monitoring of compaction bins.

ADTRAN is a leading global provider of networking and communications equipment. ADTRAN's products enable voice, data, video and Internet communications across a variety of network infrastructures. ADTRAN solutions are currently in use by service providers, private enterprises, government organisations and millions of individual users worldwide. The company has a market cap of $700 million and it operates in North America (USA, Canada and Mexico), Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as well as Australia and New Zealand.

Steyn will participate as a speaker at ADTRAN's annual Broadband and Business Solutions Summit, to be hosted in Alabama, USA from 15 April 2019.
