Speaking at a recent partner briefing, MD of local Acronis distributor Synapsys reports a strong surge in migration to Acronis Backup.
"A current drive by Acronis to enable organisations to switch from non-Acronis legacy backup to the advanced and easier-to-use Acronis AnyData technology has revealed a massive pent-up demand from SA businesses," says Synapsys MD Peter French.
"In the past three months we've seen a 510% increase in the number of competitive upgrades to Acronis."
The company also reports a huge 2200% increase in adoption of Acronis Data Cloud, the leading backup solution for service providers.
According to French, the surge in demand is driven by two key factors: renewed business confidence, and extremely attractive competitive-upgrade pricing from Acronis.
"The business outlook in SA has improved since the changes in political leadership earlier this year. This has opened an opportunity for IT managers and backup professionals to reconsider their infrastructure and position their organisations for new growth.
"Rather than pay another year for the same old legacy backup, they're reconsidering the technologies available, and this is where Acronis really shines," French observes.
"Many businesses are still using older backup systems acquired some years ago, unable to span heterogeneous platforms both physical and virtual, whether workstations or servers, on-prem or cloud," says French. "They're ready to upgrade to Acronis but are seeking ways to do this as cost-effectively as possible."
"As the annual renewal for their non-Acronis legacy backup systems becomes due, customers have asked whether Acronis provides an easy and price-competitive way for them to switch their backup systems to Acronis."
With the current competitive-upgrade promotions from Acronis, the answer is an emphatic yes, French enthuses.
"Until the end of June, organisations can trade up to Acronis at more than two-thirds off the normal price of selected server and workstation solutions. In many cases that's cheaper than the ordinary annual renewal for many legacy backup systems, so customers are capitalising on this opportunity to trade up to Acronis," French concludes.
