You may think that a security operations centre (SOC) is only for very large companies, but the reality is that malicious actors target any size company. An SOC is simply the epicentre of security, responsible for every aspect of protecting the organisation. TechEx’s SOC service has the ability to deliver a secure and cost-effective 24x7x365 security monitoring service that has the capability to efficiently address challenges faced by most organisations. These challenges include:

  • Managing the complexity of SIEM and log management products;
  • Lack of qualified and skilled personnel to manage (administer) SIEM and log management products;
  • Lack of experience in extracting useful and meaningful information gathered from SIEM and log management solutions; and
  • Securing a rapidly built hybrid environment due to the rapid shift in work dynamics (working from home), which increases the threat surface.

An SOC combines people, process and technology to monitor and remediate IT security and compliance throughout your organisation. Now, this can mean a lot of things, mainly due to the fact that threats can come from all sorts of angles and processes. There are two main areas of IT security:

  1. Data security where teams need to secure the network, servers, apps and endpoints. Ultimately, there are more ways that your data can be accessed than you can imagine and thus warrants a carefully trained eye to watch it.
  2. Virtual security where intrusion prevention systems, firewalls and other methods are used to deter people from breaching your security and entering your network.

The SOC provides round-the-clock insight into what is happening around those systems for all organisations with a high number of applications, ensuring they are kept secure in real-time. With all of the cyber threats that exist today, it is no longer a nice-to-have but has become critical for organisations to have a security operations centre (SOC) as part of their IT security solution. This is where TechEx comes; TechEx offers end-to-end cyber security solutions as a service within their SOC. This ensures that organisations, regardless of scale, are even less susceptible to being compromised by the vectors within the ever evolving and expanding threat landscape.

TechEx runs their SOC in-house. Many think that this is a very expensive and time-consuming operation to maintain, but fortunately it's not. TechEx provides SOC as a service on comprehensive security monitoring 24x7 and is cost-effective. Also known as managed SOC, this is a subscription-based model where an organisation outsources its managed security operations to a third party, typically a managed security service provider (MSSP). TechEx offers services such as:

  • Threat hunting;
  • Vulnerability management and penetration testing;
  • Managed detection and response (MDR);
  • Incident response;
  • 24/7 monitoring;
  • Critical security controls assessment;
  • Alert notification and remediation guidance;
  • Compliance automation;
  • On-demand investigation;
  • Daily/monthly reporting; and
  • One-on-one consultations.
