Surveys

ITWeb conducted a Mainframe Access and Security survey in partnership with Micro Focus to examine the state of enterprise level mainframe security in South Africa.

The survey asked, among other things:

1.
What regulatory compliance requirements are currently impacting your organisation?
2.
Whether there’s centralised management of distributed mainframe access systems and applications.
3.
What authentication methods are required to access the mainframe?

DEFINITIONS

Please read the following definitions before proceeding:

TLS 1.3

TLS (Transport Layer Security) is the cryptographic protocol that provides communication security to all modern websites. TLS 1.3 is the shortest TLS handshake meaning connections to the websites get made faster – with less latency.

SHA-2

SHA (Secure Hash Algorithms), are a family of cryptographic functions designed to keep data secured. While SHA-1 is the more basic version of the hash providing a shorter code with fewer possibilities for unique combinations, SHA-2 or SHA-256 creates a longer, and thus more complex, hash.
