Experiencing a noticeable dent in your pocket for a subpar service – we’ve all been there at some point or another. In Stephan Freysen's case, this was paying no small amount for a web server that wasn’t supported or managed, while also having to host all their websites on said server. 

As you can imagine, a single domino would set the entire ecosystem in disarray. It’s no secret that no man is an island, and the same can be said for any business or venture, budding or built. Despite the pride and accomplishment we all feel when we reach our goals largely by ourselves, a symbiotic relationship is what takes us from the mountain we summited, safely back down the bottom and onto the next. 

That’s what we hoped to achieve when we began our partnership with Commerce Edge Learning Innovation, a leading provider of online learning solutions – to assist them from the looming troubles a single server system could cause. 

The client

Freysen is head of the razor-sharp thinkers at Commerce Edge Learning Innovation (CELI), who are all about providing educational technology and learning interventions that streamline the daily processes that enable businesses. In essence, they’ve taken the core ideology of symbiosis and made it their model to help businesses excel and reach their latent potential.

They design learning strategies along with solutions and customise learning management systems and the user experience (UX) of such systems. Besides that, they also design and develop e-learning programs and solutions alongside the multimedia that supports these programs and solutions. 

In simple terms, they ensure that you have the right programs and software to keep your business’s training processes running as efficiently as possible, while also providing training to maximise your use of said systems. 

Challenges

When we set sail on the journey towards our goals, the venture is never without its challenges. Commerce Edge Learning Innovation solved theirs by moving to HOSTAFRICA shores and have had their mast in the wind ever since. 

Among the toils and hardships that come with staying on par, CELI found that their previous service providers offered a higher price for less. One of our points of pride is that our service is accessible to many, while remaining uncompromising with regards to quality. Our enticing managed and supported services called out to them as the song of a mermaid does, offering a soothing respite from the constant toils that running a business can elicit.

CELI no longer had to host all their sites on a single server that raised problems for their entire 

ecosystem if any one of them ever encountered wavy waters. Instead, they were met with our 

stellar support staff and expert engineers who ensured that all was shipshape from stern to 

scupper. This came as a massive relief to Freysen, after he toiled for two years searching for a 

solution to this problem.

Our solution 

After looking at CELI’s case, we set them up on our powerful dedicated servers to provide them with a well-oiled ecosystem to run all their websites. Our dedicated servers being a managed service, we took care of the set-up from start to finish. Freysen recalled the entire onboarding process as “seamless”. A welcomed convenience as they needed solid servers with great internet that was stable for their Moodle implementations, and we gave it to them. 

As any business owner will know, when operations run more smoothly, the profits are sure to follow.

In the beginning of our partnership, we were the only provider CELI could find offering a 1Gb/s line that didn’t require a chest of gold to afford. This saved them capital that they could reinvest back into the company. That was in 2019 and, as you can expect, we’ve both only improved. We know this because it’s been a happy partnership for two and a half years, boasting nine servers with us from the one with which they were previously stuck on. 

Result

Our partnership resulted in many hours saved on troubleshooting and fixing business infrastructure issues due to our support staff, who make it their business to go above and beyond. Freysen insists that finding any other hosting provider offering the value we do would be incredibly hard. That goes not only for our services, but for our unrivalled support. 

Freysen remarked about his interaction with our support engineers: “Staff members from HOSTAFRICA, like Ryno, go above and beyond to save me that time and to resolve issues with excellence.” 

Having fewer technical headaches and spending fewer resources on operational costs is an incredible step in ironing out a clear path for profitability in the future. One which CELI can now stroll on as they continue their progress. 

The future 

With pesky server issues and laborious hosting problems out of the way, CELI can focus their attention on moving their customers to a single code base that allows them to roll out updates for every customer in one go. 

To sum up, it’s a problem of how to scale and make their business more efficient. A problem they can face full on knowing that behind the scenes every server they use is being managed in the best way possible, with support engineers at the ready – always. On the whole of it, Freysen had this advice to impart about others battling a similar conundrum:
