Data is now generated by a multitude of 'things', including social media platforms, mobile devices, sensors and many more new sources. With this ballooning of data, organisations have fallen into a trap of believing that collecting as much data as they can will see them become data-driven organisations and survive the next wave of innovation. Others have invested in data lakes, Hadoop and other technologies to achieve this. However, most have found that in most cases, they cannot use this data to extract any business value. How do we then transform this precious asset called data into a valuable asset that drives business value, creates new business models for organisations to grow and even reinvent themselves?
