Access public, private cloud services through a single pane of glass

Johannesburg, 22 Nov 2016

As companies expand their use of the cloud to cover everything from backup and storage to mission-critical applications, they are starting to expect more of a plug-and-play feel with their services. In addition, as the needs of enterprises change and more move to multi-cloud approaches, provisioning and deployment of services need to be simplified.

"As the cloud becomes the standard approach to technology in many organisations, they are finding that access to what they need, when they need it, requires opening and using many platforms. This is not only time consuming, it causes other headaches for IT and business alike," says Richard Vester, Group Executive of Cloud Services at EOH.

"Being able to access common management, governance, and security services makes the entire process as simple as a few clicks of a mouse. EOH Cloud Manager offers a single pane of glass through which businesses can access automated selection of the right cloud services whenever they need them."

He adds that management services such as the ability to self- and auto-provision cloud services, to report on usage, and to evaluate performance, are equally easy. In addition, customers are able to choose services on an hourly basis, if they so wish.

EOH Cloud Services has partnered with all of the world's major public cloud providers, including AWS, Azure, Google, IBM, Openstack, Oracle, Red Hat, Microsoft and many others to enable customers to deploy anything that sits within these clouds - across their own infrastructure, EOH Cloud infrastructure or across any infrastructure they choose. With a simple, intuitive portal providing easy navigation, deployment and management, EOH Cloud Services customers have access to the full range of global cloud services in one central place.

"Every company has moved parts of its business to the cloud. Some are using either public or private clouds, while others have a hybrid environment, but most are finding that they are having to manage multiple relationships with different providers. This is one of the reasons we have added a public cloud brokerage to our offering, simplifying access to all of the public cloud solutions out there."

In a recent Gartner report entitled Cloud Services Brokerage is Dominated by Three Primary Roles, the analysts define a cloud broker as being able to bundle many individual services together and present them as a unified service. Gartner states that integration and customisation are key elements to an effective cloud services brokerage, as enterprises will rely on a cloud broker to integrate multiple services, collectively providing new functionality.

"The cloud broker can help move data into the cloud and integrate the customer's network with the provider's network. A cloud broker often customises cloud services for individual customers, usually around the network edge because cloud services can only be changed by the cloud provider," the report states.

Vester explains that EOH Cloud Services does all of this, and more. "We not only provide discrete cloud services as well as other cloud offerings, we have partnered with the world's biggest public cloud providers to be able to offer our customers access to their services in a ways that meet their unique business requirements. In addition to offering instant provisioning and simplified billing, Cloud Manager offers a variety of choice in pre-defining, building and designing workloads unmatched by any other cloud provider."

In addition to a full service catalogue and a comprehensive offering that has been fully templatised, Cloud Manager was designed to offer intuitive navigation with structured, system-driven workflow processes to guide users to what they are looking for easily. "We can now help organisations pull global cloud solutions into their current cloud world. With full hybrid capabilities, we remove all the pain of accessing cloud services as and when they are needed, through a single pane of glass."
