Actiance protects CUP users with Vantage for Cisco Unified Presence

Actiance (formerly FaceTime Communications), enabler of the safe and compliant use of unified communications, collaboration and Web 2.0, announced today the launch of Vantage for Cisco Unified Presence (CUP).

A complementary product for CUP users, Vantage provides the security, management and compliance required to protect against data leakage, malware threats, expensive eDiscovery costs and errant user behaviour.

Vantage protects all real-time communications and unified communication (UC) platforms, such as CUP, used within an organisation - from presence and instant messaging (IM) to conferencing and voice.

Vantage for CUP provides granular security, policy controls and compliance features that enable organisations to manage the UC platform alongside publicly available real-time communications and other messaging systems, including industry-focused networks such as Thomson Reuters Messenger, Bloomberg and YellowJacket.

"The collaborative Internet has changed the way users communicate with each other, and standardising on one unified communications platform will not exclude the use of publicly available real-time communication tools like Yahoo or Skype in the workplace," says Kailash Ambwani, CEO of Actiance.

"To enable the secure use of UC platforms such as Cisco Unified Presence, organisations must ensure that the UC platform is secured, alongside other real-time networks that do not currently connect with the corporate messaging platform."

Vantage for CUP helps prevent data leakage by detecting, then alerting or blocking, content in all real-time communications, including file transfers. The blocking of malicious URLs and Zero-Day worms provides further protection for businesses. LDAP integration enables organisations to easily set policies, including access controls, monitoring options and federation at the company, group or user levels. In addition, ethical wall policies can be applied consistently across IM and group chat.

Providing a single solution for capturing IM and group chat messages, Vantage for CUP allows for disclaimers to be inserted inline and for all conversations to be exported to an e-mail archive or worm storage. With Vantage for CUP, administrators can easily produce reports on IM usage, security violations, compliance violations, and transcript reviews, enabling organizations to comply with the most stringent of regulations.

An award-winning product that provides security, management and compliance for UC, Web 2.0 and social networks, Vantage for CUP also maintains an integrated trust relationship with Unified Security Gateway (USG), enabling organisations to ensure that only sanctioned access to real-time communications is allowed.
