Add bar codes to any documents

At Comdex Chicago 2001 this week, StrandWare, a bar code labelling and tracking software product company, announced that it has added Bar Code Publisher to its offering.

Developed to work with any Microsoft Windows application that supports ActiveX technology, Bar Code Publisher makes it easy for designers of catalogues, coupons, gift certificates, credit applications and user guides, as well as online barcode-enabled documents, to add accurate and valid bar codes to standard Windows applications.

Bar Code Publisher works with many Windows applications such as Word, Excel and FrontPage, and users need no programming or technical bar coding knowledge to use it.

Once Bar Code Publisher is installed, it becomes a selectable ActiveX control. For example, it can be added to the Control Toolbox in MS Word. Then the Bar Code Publisher-developed bar code is embedded as an "object" within the Word document, and can be resized and dragged-and-dropped anywhere on the page.

The programme also applies design rules to ensure that any bar code created by the application is accurate and valid. Users can select a bar code type and set properties, including the data encoded, density, symbol-specific settings and other parameters.

Bar Code Publisher conforms to both one-dimensional and two-dimensional bar code designs without requiring users to purchase and install add-ons.
