APC Solutions opened its offices in Cape Town, South Africa, in November 2010. Within a matter of weeks, it deployed its first installation connecting a waterfront restaurant with a hotel.

The location proved challenging due to various buildings and obstacles between the two sites, including an old mill. Previously, alterative wireless providers could only offer a two-phase link. Fibre technology would incur monthly costs, maintenance costs and line rental, making it expensive and often unreliable.

APC's wireless solution offered affordable, high-speed, reliable connectivity with no ongoing costs. It installed a Motorola PTP300 link, which delivered in excess of 20MB, far surpassing the connectivity a fibre connection could provide.

Speaking about the install, David Bell, Group Sales Director, comments: “APC's first install demonstrates its extensive knowledge of wireless technology. Connecting two locations in challenging surroundings could prove a challenge too large for alternative providers. But, with Motorola's range of products and APC's expertise, a link could easily be established. A link which could be added to, used for VOIP, deliver speeds upwards of 20Mbps and be reliable. We look forward to installing many more links across Africa in the next few years.”
