Building a trusted cloud

Cloud computing is the next revolution in information technology. It delivers seamless information technology services to businesses, increasing their agility and productivity. It accelerates time-to-market for new products and services, improves efficiency and resource utilisation, gives businesspeople direct access to powerful IT resources, and transforms IT from a capital-intensive to a pay-as-you-go billing model.

By optimising the distribution and management of applications and other resources in a hybrid cloud, the enterprise may be able to lower its total IT spend by 25% or more.

Despite the significant benefits, many organisations hesitate to embrace cloud computing. They regularly cite “trust” concerns such as security and compliance as their number one barrier. When Gartner assessed the barriers to adoption of cloud in 2009, the top six all related to trust.
