Cointel, one of the largest value-added telecommunication service providers in SA, has been awarded a tender with media company Naspers, to consolidate its mobile content initiatives.

As a multinational media organisation, the Naspers group has operations in SA, Greece, the Netherlands, Asia as well as other parts of Africa. To date, the group in SA has made use of a number of telecommunication vendors, all with varying solutions and revenue shares to run its mobile projects.

"We decided to consolidate the group`s mobile strategies to allow for a simplified process where there is a single point of contact and Web interface for mobile content implementation, across all Naspers` South African subsidiary companies," says Kim Reid, CEO of MWEB, a Naspers Group company.

The solution that Cointel has provided to the group allows for an individual to log into a central Web interface. From there a selection of channels can be made on a solution platform ranging from bulk SMS to online billing services (OBS), depending on the type of campaign being run and the requirements of the campaign.

"The benefit of the Cointel solution is that it allows administrators to gain a single view of campaigns run within a specific period. Monthly reports can be run to gauge the success of a campaign and to also determine the amount of revenue generated from the campaign," adds Janene Matsukis, Executive Sales Manager at Cointel.

"The partnership with Cointel came as a natural decision due to its stability and track record within the telecommunications industry. However, and more importantly, Cointel demonstrated a great understanding of Naspers` business needs and requirements," concludes Reid.
