South Africa's leading business continuity service provider, ContinuitySA, part of the AltX-listed Dialogue Group, has acquired SunGard Availability Services SA, the South African operations of SunGard Availability Services - the pioneer and leading provider of information availability and business continuity services.
As part of the arrangement, ContinuitySA has taken over SunGard Availability Services' premises in Randburg and Midrand. For SunGard's customers it is business as usual as they continue to receive their regular services following the completion of the acquisition.
Allen Smith, managing director of ContinuitySA, said the two companies are remarkably similar and that the new combined business will be able to offer services to existing customers with multiple sites and a stronger marketing message to attract new customers.
"Both companies operate in the business continuity and disaster recovery space and offer office recovery and call centre outsourcing services," said Mr Smith. "These services will continue and will be bolstered by the solutions on offer from ContinuitySA's consulting arm."
"I am confident that the customers who have come to know and trust SunGard will continue to be in good hands with ContinuitySA. The acquisition will strengthen the quality of business continuity and disaster recovery services on offer to existing and prospective customers in South Africa as a whole. SunGard's existing premises and staff will continue to operate as normal. Our customers can be assured of continued service from a leading business continuity and disaster recovery company in South Africa" said Keith Tilley, executive vice president, UK & Europe, SunGard Availability Services.
SunGard Availability Services SA operated in a variety of industries including the financial services industry, retail, mining and government. ContinuitySA has a very strong presence in these arenas.
"ContinuitySA has also expanded its Midrand premises to include a new 8,000 square metre location and was looking to meet customer requirements and establish a second centre closer to the West Rand," added Mr Smith. "The deal with SunGard Availability Services will give us immediate premises in Randburg. More than merely a location, it will provide staffed and equipped premises with an existing base of customers."
The acquisition met with completion requirements on the 13th of June 2008.
