Dimension Data has entered into an agreement with network optimisation vendor F5, which will give its clients access to network improvement tools.

Dimension Data has been awarded unity gold partner status and can now also offer F5's solutions to its clients. F5 provides strategic points of control across all areas of IT infrastructure.

F5's offering covers business enablement issues such as acceleration, availability, cloud computing, security, storage and virtualisation. Initially, Dimension Data's primary focus will be on providing F5's acceleration solutions.

Dimension Data sees cloud computing as a key area of growth over the next few years. Its recent R24 billion buyout by Japanese group Nippon Telegraph and Telephone will accelerate the company's growth plans into the cloud.

Michael Abendanon, GM of DiData's network integration unit in the Middle East and Africa, says: “F5's offerings provide strategic points of control throughout the IT Infrastructure, which will in turn empower us to assist our clients to scale and adapt their business effectively.”

F5's solutions help networks and applications work faster, use fewer resources, and perform more cost-effectively. “With improved replication between data centres, we'll be able to assist businesses meet stringent disaster recovery objectives without them having to invest in additional bandwidth,” says Abendanon.

F5 is currently the only vendor in this space that provides an open architectural framework, and Microsoft and SAP continually develop joint innovation and integration with F5. The company is headquartered in Seattle, Washington in the US and has offices around the world.
