Dubai reaches out to SMEs

The Dubai Institute of Technology, a new member of the International Network for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (INSME), has been selected as key co-organiser for the 2009 INSME annual meeting, to be held for the first time in Dubai, says Al Bawaba.

The two parties, mandated to encourage technological development via entrepreneurship, will also nurture cooperation agreements between INSME members and companies within TechnoPark.

The Rome-based INSME Association is engaged in stimulating transnational cooperation and public-private partnership in the field of innovation and technology transfer to small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

SMEs spend on VOIP

European SMEs are primarily spending money on security, infrastructure and voice over Internet protocol (VOIP), reports iHot Desk.

Studies carried out by researcher IDC indicate IT investments are focusing on cost-efficiencies in the current uncertain economic climate.

The research also shows SMEs have been forceful in their uptake of voice and data convergence solutions and their streamlining of IT infrastructure.

Trysis aids SMEs

Trisys has introduced an affordable, fully integrated call accounting, call recording and screen capture solution for the SME market, says ThomasNet.

The integrated solution will help SMEs improve customer service as well as quality assurance, by giving managers a bird's-eye view of every aspect of their organisation's telecoms and PC-based activities.

This technology will also offer resellers looking to tap the SME market, branch offices and departments of larger enterprises, a competitive advantage in the industry.
