EOH Cloud Services launches application optimisation

Application optimisation will help clients and their users overcome the slow application performance challenges faced with global application delivery, says EOH Cloud Services' Stuart Hardy.

Application performance has become an increasing relevant topic as companies position themselves to take advantage of the growing benefits of cloud application delivery. At the heart of this discussion is the need to provide strong end-user experience which can be severely affected by the location of the application.

According to EOH Cloud Services' Stuart Hardy, fast and responsive apps are essential for end-user happiness, but in a lot of cases are simply not possible when the application is delivered from Europe or the US, over expensive networks and high latency.

"EOH's cloud application delivery philosophy is simple. We want great performance from every application whether located in our cloud network in South Africa, or delivered from a cloud network in the UK or the US, such as Microsoft 365," he says.

Hardy explains that to achieve this, EOH has invested in Optimisation technology, built around its own cloud and network that will help clients and their users overcome the slow application performance challenges faced with global application delivery.

"We believe cloud is the future of application delivery. We also believe companies will consumer their applications from a range of cloud sources. We have clients that host their ERP system in EOH Cloud, use Microsoft 365 and do development in Azure. We want to offer them a single Optimisation solution and network that will have the intelligence to deal with application delivery from anywhere in the world."

For most companies, latency is the big factor when delivering applications to end users. The higher the latency the worse the user experience. So accessing Salesforce.com, Oracle Cloud, Microsoft Azure and 365 can be compromised due to high latency, as experienced from South Africa.

"Our TCP Acceleration overcomes latency by resolving the inefficiency in the TCP protocols when it comes to sending data and requiring receipts. This increases the TCP window size and the speed at which data is sent, measurably increasing user experience by up to 50 times," Hardy says.

"Along with world leading compression, de-duplication and caching techniques, companies can reduce the bandwidth requirements when using EOH Optimisation services buy no less than 50% on average. This has a big effect when bundling Optimisation with the Express Route from Microsoft Azure or the Direct Connect from AWS."
